Taxes in CoffeeMUD are assessed in two distinct ways: Citizen Tax and Property Tax.

Citizens Tax

Any time a tax collector in an area comes across your path (or you enter a room with him in it and he notices you), he will demand a percentage of your current coin WORTH as taxes. You can pay your taxes by using the GIVE command with the appropriate amount (and type) of currency demanded. After paying your taxes, there will be a grace period before the tax collector charges you again for citizens tax.

Property Taxes

Property taxes are applied to all property owned in the tax district once per MUDMONTH (real-life day). Property taxes will automatically be withdrawn from a bank account, if funds are available.

  • Funds may need to be in the same currency as the tax district, so a local bank account is best.
