Combat Followers Pets Hirelings Retainers Slaves Nannies |
Followers is a term that refers to any MOB (including a player character) in a group that is not the leader. Followers can be ordered by the leader. While it is possible to have a nested command of leaders (Mob C follows Mob B, who follows Mob A), only a leader may issue orders to a follower. Note: The overall party leader must have a high enough charisma to account for ALL followers in the group, even those following other members of the group.
- While in a group, the leader can ORDER followers around. This can be useful, but caution should be used when following other players. Report abuse to your admin immediately, using the ASSIST command.
Follower Types
- Pets - Pets are followers bought at a store and remain with you until dismissed.
- Hirelings - Hirelings are a special type of follower which the leader pays for their services. Once the total time of paid services expires, the hireling will make their way back home.
- Retainers - Retainers are a special type of follower which the leader pays for their services. If placed on AUTOGUARD on property owned by the leader, the retainer will stay on that property and draw his pay from the owner's bank account until dismissed, but the retainer can be removed from the owner's group without causing him to be dismissed.
- Slaves - Slaves are intelligent mobs that have been enslaved and can be bought and sold. You must maintain their loyalty by providing them food and water.
- Summons - Summons are mobs that were brought to the caster through magic. Most summons will automatically join your group, if there is a spot available. If not, they may attack the caster for wasting their time.
- Charmed -
Charmed mobs are creatures that are added to your group via some compulsion, whether it is a charm spell or a control undead ability. Some charm effects have a limited duration, after which the mob will attack the caster for dominating their will. Other charms, such as Control Undead and Befriend, are instantaneous and either the mob joins your group permanently, or it doesn't.

Losing Followers
There are several ways of misplacing followers, and some mechanisms to regain them, potentially.
Getting Arrested
When you get arrested, you leave your group and are forced to follow the arresting officer. This will make your group no longer responsive to you, since they are not your group anymore.
Regaining Followers
Loyalty
Some mobs can gain loyalty, which will cause them to automatically rejoin your group whenever you are in the same room as them.
Retainers
Retainers can be ordered as long as they are on you property.
Lassos
You can lead an animal around with a lasso around their neck.
Locating Followers
- Rottweilers have an ability to Find Friend. Buying a Rottweiler from a pet store may be a useful mechanic for finding your lost group members.
- Necromancers have an ability to Call Undead followers back to their group.
