Legal System Basics
Some cities have a codified list of laws for all intelligent inhabitants to adhere to. The legal system identifies who the enforcers of the law (often city guardsmen) will be, as well as a single judge to mete out justice.
How to Commit a Crime
In CoffeeMUD, for a crime to occur, it must:
- be defined as a law in the given area
- occur within the area that has the law
- be witnessed by an intelligent mob within 1 room radius from the crime scene
- be committed by an intelligent mob (with an intelligence score of 3 or more)
Warrants and Arrests
If a crime is committed and meets all the criteria from How to Commit a Crime, then a warrant for the arrest of the (player or non-player) MOB will be issued. Whenever a law enforcer encounters the criminal, they will attempt to arrest the criminal and take them to the judge for sentencing.
Sentencing
.
