Usage : WRITE "ITEM" ("TEXT TO WRITE") Available: ALL Example : write parchment From recall, go nseeseenwesee This skill allows one to write ordinary messages onto ordinary paper, parchments, and similar writing material. The language the player will write in will depend on which language the player is currently SPEAKing.
When writing on a journal, you need not specify any parameters when using this command. |
Special Codes
- You may use the Color Codes to add color to your texts.
- Only one special affect may be applied at a time.
- You may not combine a background and a foreground color in your texts.
- You may need to experiment with the ^N, ^? and ^. terminators to ensure your text displays correctly and doesn't bleed into the next view.
Other special codes that may be used in writings:
Code | Effect | Notes |
---|---|---|
^N | Return to normal color. | Ends all special color affects, returning to the default white. |
^? | Restores previous color | This will end the last special character encoding. This has a similar affect to ^N, unless there was more than one special color in place. This symbol will also clear an underline or italics affect. |
^. | Reset | Turns off background color, italics and underline. |
^! | Bold | Will change to the bright color of your current text. No effect if already using the bright color. |
^_ | Underline | |
^/ | Italics | |
^H | Highlight | This is a limited version of text color. |
^* | Blink | Does not work on modern clients or browsers, and is very annoying if it does work. Using this code on some MUDs will get you banned. |
%0D | Carriage Return | Useful for starting new paragraphs and in making tables. NOTE: This is percent zero capital-D. |
%20 | Non-breaking Space | Useful for creating extra space between characters. |
Notes
- Writing proficiency affects the end result of the written text.
- Writing proficiency is also checked for Embroidering and Engraving skills.
- If you are speaking in a different language when you write on a blank item, then that item will be written in the language you are speaking, and only understandable by others who speak that language. Items may only be written in a single language, which will be determined by the first language used.
- If you do not have your ANSI enabled, you won't be able to see colors, but other readers with ANSI enabled will.
