These areas have room linkages that defy the normal cartesian mapping rules. Some areas may have rooms that form circular paths, despite linear directions (like 2 norths will return you to the room you started from), while others simply don't have a 1:1 mapping of rooms (ocean grids will often map a 5-room column west exit to a 3-room column east entrance, for example).
