Description: | This spell makes permanent any spell which the caster has already cast on the target which does have a duration. For instance, enlarge, sleep, armor, or similar spells can be made permanent with this spell. This spell drains mana permanently from the caster. Permanency cast on rooms or exits will not survive reboots unless the owner is the one who casts it. |
Notes
- Mana lost due to casting the Permanency spell no longer persists through REMORT.
- Permanent affects do persist through REMORT, but the effective caster level of the spell reverts to level 1. Therefore, spells that improve with caster level (like haste or combat precognition) are not recommended for permanency if you are planning on remorting. Similarly, spells that have a parameter when cast (such as immunity) will lose the parameter and become ineffective after a remort.
- Due to playability issues, it is not recommended to use permanency on fly or invisibility.
- Permanency only affects spells cast by you.
- It cannot be used on spells cast by others.
- It does not work for non-spells, such as prayers prayed by you or chants you chanted.
- Permanency will affect the LAST spell cast by you on the target.
- Permanency will fail if your maximum mana is 100 or lower.
- Spells that have a parameter do not persist well across reboots, and are not ideal for permanency.
- Example: Improved Polymorph accepts a race as a parameter. That parameter is apparently lost over reboots, and therefore after the reboot, you will revert to your original race and not be able to be polymorphed (because you are under the affect of Improved Polymorph).
