Description: Duergar are shorter than humans, but much stockier, and sport long black beards and bald heads.They receive one bonus Constitution point, but lose four Charisma points. They also have Darkvision, or the ability to see other creatures in the dark, and have a talent for Invisibility and Growth. Duergar, like their cousins the Dwarfs, are natural Miners, though their class choices will be even more limited.

How to Play

Class Selection

Duergar are restricted from the following classes:

  • Bard (Bard), Charlatan (Bard), Dancer (Bard), Jester (Bard), Gaian (Druid), Mer (Druid), Skywatcher (Druid), Monk (Fighter), Paladin (Fighter), Ranger (Fighter), any mage subclass and Arcanist (Thief).

Other classes that may represent added challenges:

  • A Duergar's low charisma greatly impacts Bard subclasses (Bard, Charlatan, Dancer, Jester).
  • A Duergar's Grow ability will strip them of their undersized clothing, requiring fighter-types to constantly resize a second set of gear.
    • However, Beastmaster and Delver Duergar are much more familiar with resizing equipment needs to fit their forms (or running without equipment).
