About this deity
The owl – The holy symbol may be a medallion or carved figurine of the owl.
Bella is the goddess of intellect and wisdom and the gifts of natural divination. Her worship as a sect is rare but found in some parts of Alram and the Itantas.
The chief goal of this religion is the gathering of knowledge and the divination of wisdom for its own sake. Education and natural intellect are paramount as well as the philosophy of man’s natural end.
Followers of Bella tend to be aristocratic or the children of sages and mages. They devote their time and sometimes their life to lofty questions and pray for the divination of knowledge. Even where the sect is prominent, the religion tends to be a civil observance, and involve educational facilities. Followers learn for the glory of their goddess, and rely on her for difficult answers and revelations. Followers and priests of Bella may be any alignment.
Priests of Bella are almost always older men and women devoted to educating the young. Their only duty to society is its enlightenment and encouraging its collective devotion to reason and wisdom. The priests are sometimes counselors to kings, and sages to the rich. Occasionally a priest will be called on to seek revelations or answer to important questions, which the priest may spend his or her entire life in trying to answer. A priest of Bella must have an intelligence and wisdom of 13 each.
