Description:	Please use this command to submit bugs against the CoffeeMud codebase. Be specific, including the name of ability you are trying to use, any affects you currently have, your location (if applicable), who you are fighting, etc. See also IDEA and TYPO.

Effective Bug Reporting

The effective communication of a bug is paramount for bug resolution. We encourage all bugs to be reported, but the more information you can provide, the more likely the bug will be resolved:

• Report the problem, not just the symptoms. For example:
  • "I was killed" does not report the how or why you consider this a bug.
  • "I was killed in one shot by an acid attack" gives some sort of inkling that some acid attack is causing too much damage, but would still be nearly impossible to track down.
  • "I was killed in one shot by an acid attack from the Acidator" provides better information...now we can look for the mob the acidator and compare it to your level, but still may not be enough information.
  • "I was killed in one shot by an acid attack that said YOUR ARE MELTED INTO A PUDDLE OF SLUDGE. I was fighting the Acidator at the time. I also had 100 ACID RESISTANCE due to the spell Resist Acid." This provides a much better reason for why you thought you shouldn't be killed in one shot by an acid attack, including some details on what the acid attack might be (from the exact damage message), and who the mob was. It also changes the flavor of the bug from being that the attack is too damaging, to possibly including how acid resistance applies to that particular attack.
• Reproducability of the bug is very important for isolating the root cause.
  • Report the exact steps you took when the bug occurred. If possible, save a log of the event and ask an archon for information on where to submit your log, in addition to writing the bug report.
  • If possible, try to get the bug to recreate for you before submitting it. Try to recreate the bug after doing the following actions and see if it is still occurring:
    • Remove all gear
    • Drop all gear (best done on private property, or while a friend guards it)
    • Go to an empty room devoid of unnecessary items and mobs.
