-- From: 621126@mercury.utb.edu (Mike Gordillo) Newsgroups: comp.sys.cbm Subject: Another C65 found! Date: 6 Nov 1994 16:41:00 GMT Hello, ...... PLEASE READ ...... The following is a post from a friend of mine who just revealed to me that he owned a C65! I'll ask him if we wants to be included in a C65 owner list if such a list exists. But for now, some of you may find descriptions on his machine (very very early c65 ???) to be useful. ......................... ----------------------------------- Mike, Why, I own it, of course. Serial # 000000008! ;) Yep, I bought it from where? You'll kill yourself when you hear this- From Creative Equipment!!! And I got the last one. Apparently Grapevine wasn't the only exclusive dealer that handled C65 stuff. It was being spread over the world, and I would estimate a rough 1,000 or so C65 are available out there in the market, in addition to what Grapevine offered a while ago. Anyway, here's the specs: Internals of the c65 computer- u1- Victor Chip ??? u2- Bill Chip ??? u3- programmable logic array chip by texas instruments u4- 8580r5 chipset by Commodore Semiconductor Group. u5- 8580r5 chipset by Commodore Semiconductor Group. u6- c65 kernal ROM u7 to u10- 4465 RAM 64k bit chips by Texas Instruments u11- ??? u12- ??? u13- ??? u14- ??? u15- ??? u16- ??? u17- c65 basic ROM u18- ??? u19- 16 MHz clock u20- 17 MHz clock u22- 1581 floppy disk controller chip by CSG On the RAM expansion board- u1- ??? u2- ??? u100 to u107- RAM chips, unknown K It is in NTSC mode, uses the composite monitor of the LB"9 Uses a Mitsumi Keyboard, but keyboard layout is different from previous CBM 8-bit computers, notably the additional function keys and the run/stop key at a different location. It has two LED's: one for power and the other for the disk drive. 4 DIN power port- I used my HD power supply to work with it. 2 Controller ports for joysticks, etc. 1 Reset button. 1 composite video port 1 RF port 1 RGBI Video Port Two stereo right and left jacks 1 user port 1 serial port 1 expansion port A strange port marked L and H with a visible screw. Upon power up, it says: Commodore C64DX Development System Copyright 1991 Commodore Electronics Ltd. Copyright 1977 Microsoft. BASIC 10.0 V0.9B.910710 All Rights Reserved English Keyboard No Expansion RAM No C1565 Drive ROM Checksum $2456 I fiddled around with the MONITOR command, and to my amazement a .Z register in addition to the staple Accumulator, .X and .Y registers! The program counter is three bytes wide. And yes, it has a go64 mode. It looks distorted though. Silent -$CFFD-$CFFF contains a version number for newer versions of the ROMs.
